tears for Tunisia

Father, touch our hearts that we might have tears for the Tunisian people, longing for them to be reconciled to You with surpassing joy.

Tuesday 28 August 2012

abundant Gospel sowing

"And the high priest said, 'Are these things so?'" (Acts 7:1). Almighty God, we pray that Tunisia's spiritual leaders will begin asking the hard questions they've long ignored.

Monday 27 August 2012

give thought

“Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure” (Proverbs 4:26). Father, bless the Tunisian people to really think about their spiritual journey. We long for their ways to be sure.

Friday 24 August 2012

pray for leaders

As the Lord encourages us to pray for those in positions of authority (1 Timothy 2:1-2), let us pray for wisdom, integrity, and salvation for the president of Tunisia’s Constituent Assembly Mustapha Ben Jaafar.

Tuesday 21 August 2012

churches planting churches

One of the key distinctions of a “church multiplication movement” is that the planting of churches is not reserved for the few, chosen, gifted men and women. Father, we pray for every new fellowship of believers in Tunisia to have a collective, focused passion to see their group multiplied throughout the land.

Monday 20 August 2012

kids’ holiday

The month of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting in the Muslim world, ends with a 2-3 day celebration called “The Small Holiday” in the Tunisian dialect. These days give special attention to children, who receive new clothes and toys, and get special pictures taken. Today, pray for the youth of Tunisia, as you would pray for your own children.

pause to praise

“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all. In Your hand are power and might, and in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank You, our God, and praise Your glorious name” (1 Chronicles 29:11-13).

Friday 17 August 2012

won’t you sing, Tunisia

We cry out to the people of Tunisia, even to the heavenly hosts: “Sing to God, sing praises to His name; lift up a song to Him who rides through the deserts; His name is the Lord; exult before Him!” (Psalm 68:4).

Wednesday 15 August 2012

fellowships abroad

Faouzi has moved abroad for work. Please pray that he and other Tunisian Christians who are currently living abroad would find fellowships where they can grow more into the image of Christ. Pray that they would make Jesus known in the cities they currently live and work in.

Tuesday 14 August 2012

on-the-job leadership training

Most church multiplication movements in the world include leadership training that enables growing believers to be trained while they continue to minister within the church—not before and not in a way that requires them to study for 2+ years outside of life-on-life ministry. Lord, raise up and refine such strategic opportunities in Tunisia this year.

Monday 13 August 2012

go and proclaim

Father, raise up men and women in the Tunisian church who will, "Go and ... speak to the people all the words of this Life" (Acts 5:20).

good governance

Lord God, we are grateful for those men and women who are genuinely seeking the best for Tunisia as they play a role in governing the nation. Thank You for the leaders who are humble, honest, and hard working for the sake of their fellow countrymen.

What does God lead you to pray as you consider this picture of Tunisia?

Please pray as God leads while you reflect on this picture of one of the few church buildings in Tunisia.

Wednesday 8 August 2012

worldly distractions

Marwen showed great interest in learning the truth about Jesus. However, he now seems too busy with his business to pursue the things of Christ. Pray that he would grasp the transience of this life. May he see that money and earthly success will not last, but that the hope of Jesus is the only thing that will endure and satisfy.

Saturday 4 August 2012

holy images

Father, we rejoice in You at the powerful manifestations of Your heart that can be seen in Tunisia—deep love for children, friendliness toward outsiders, generous hospitality, care for the elderly and sick. Thank You for Tunisians, Father.

Friday 3 August 2012

obedient hearts

“Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision” (1 Chronicles 29:19). David’s son Solomon was a forerunner of Jesus. Solomon constructed the physical temple of God. Jesus gave birth to the spiritual temple of God (the Church). Father, we pray that the children of believers in Tunisia will be obediently committed to Your Church.

Ramadan 2012

While Tunisians go without food or water during daylight hours in these very days, Lord, would You awaken their souls to the superior satisfaction of Jesus. Oh, that their fasting this year would be far more than abstaining in order to be accepted by You.
