divine signs and wonders

As many Tunisians seek to be more spiritually sensitive in the month of Ramadan, let us agree together that the genuine hunger of many would be met through divine encounters with Jesus. Lord, we pray for visions, dreams, healings, and prophetic words of knowledge that cannot be denied and that bear fruit to Your glory.

for Your sake

“For Your name’s sake, O Lord, pardon my guilt, for it is great” (Psalm 25:11). Lord Almighty, for the sake of Your great name, let the Lamb receive the reward of His sufferings in Tunisia.

breakthroughs & boldness

“A king’s wrath is the like the growling of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass” (Proverbs 19:12). Sovereign Lord, we pray that You would give Your Tunisian followers the “dew” of favor with those in positions of power, but we ask also that You would give them divine courage as they hear the growls of opposition.

Tuesday 24 July 2012

rapid incorporation of new believers

As summer work days are shorter for most Tunisians and as many students rest from studies, Father, let these days be full of life-on-life fellowship among seekers, new believers, and those more mature in their faith. May the hunger of seekers and young believers be satisfied and stirred by Your Tunisian bride.

the fast He chooses

“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6). LORD, let this kind of grace and justice break into the landscape of Tunisia as they fast from physical things this year.

Ramadan religiosity

“So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said, ‘Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious'” (Acts 17:22). Though we mourn the spiritual darkness of Islam, we rejoice that their convictions about God open the door for conversations about Jesus. Thank You, Father, for the ways that You will create dialogue about grace and truth in Tunisia this month.

Ramadan begins

Of the five primary obligations of Islam, fasting from sunrise to sunset during the Islamic month of Ramadan is perhaps the most comprehensive community activity in which Muslims engage. Today is the beginning of Ramadan in Tunisia. Pray that this would be a month of breakthrough in this nation. Consider taking extra time this month to better inform your prayers for Tunisians and Muslims around the world--you can start by clicking here.

in the face of fear

Nijeb has been seeking truth for more than five years. After watching a television program about Christians in Tunisia, she shared with a friend that she wanted to investigate more. They have met together often to discuss the show and read the New Testament. They have decided that they both want to follow Jesus and obey His teachings, but they fear rejection and persecution from their family and neighbors. Pray today for these two courageous girls.

Tuesday 17 July 2012

family-based conversion patterns

“Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!” (Psalm 96:7). O Lord, we pray for the day when Tunisian families, parents and children and grandchildren, will come together in their homes to worship You with songs, Scripture, and testimonies.

Monday 16 July 2012

King Cyrus

“Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, … to open doors before him that gates may not be closed” (Isaiah 45:1). God foretold and then fulfilled His will that the Persian king Cyrus would play a critical role in empowering God’s exiled people. Father, we pray that political leaders in Tunisia would similarly be used by You to keep doors open for Your Kingdom to come into North Africa.

join the seas

“The Lord reigns; he is clothed in majesty...the seas have lifted up, O Lord, the seas have lifted up their voice, the seas have lifted up their pounding waves." We join with the mighty waters of the Mediterranean Sea, whose waves crash along Tunisia's coastline, and praise you that your throne was established long ago, and you are from all eternity (from Psalm 93).

Friday 13 July 2012

cry out

Press in to the throne of grace this day, asking the Lord to ignite a church multiplication movement in Tunisia. “It is remarked that Joshua never grew weary in the fighting, but Moses did grow weary in the praying (Exodus 17); the more spiritual an exercise, the more difficult it is for the flesh and blood to maintain it.” –Charles Spurgeon (Morning & Evenings)

Wednesday 11 July 2012

love for the Word

"Marwen" received a Bible which grew his interest in Jesus. Pray that he would have a great love for the Word of God. Pray that he would not merely listen to the word, but would do what it says (James 1:22). Pray that as he reads, the Holy Spirit would give him deep understanding.

Tuesday 10 July 2012

healthy churches

Think of a particularly healthy, or fruitful, aspect of your present church fellowship and pray for this area of the Tunisian church, that believers would be encouraged and edified in the Lord.

Monday 9 July 2012

move

Jesus said, “For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20). Lord, You know that there are significant barriers in the hearts of Muslims to the Gospel of Christ. In Your name, we agree together today, telling these mountains to move!

Saturday 7 July 2012

unchanging

“For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations” (Psalm 100:5). We honor You, Lord, knowing that no generation will miss Your faithfulness. Your steadfast love is alive and well, falling and ready to fall more noticeably upon Tunisia.

Friday 6 July 2012

Ramadan coming

The Muslim holy (lunar) month of Ramadan begins this month. There is a great online resource here for praying through the 30 days when Muslims across the world will be fasting from sunrise to sunset. We pray together today that you would manifest yourself in powerful ways and your truth would be revered by many this season, Lord.

Wednesday 4 July 2012

ruins

Roman ruins are stunningly scattered across the country of Tunisia. They stand as relics of an expired empire. Few things really last. Eternal God, give Your children in Tunisia the vision to sow the seed of their lives in ways that will last forever, even if they remain unnamed and unseen in this brief pilgrimage.

Tuesday 3 July 2012

worship in the heart language

“… be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart” (Ephesians 5:18b-19). O Lord, open the hearts and tongues of your children in Tunisia to do just this: to sing to one another with songs of joy in You. May it be that believers cannot help but sing when they come together.

Monday 2 July 2012

teachable

“Make me to know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You I wait all the day long” (Psalm 25:4-5). Lord God, bring this teachable spirit upon the people of Tunisia, believers and yet-to-be-believers. Come, Lord!
