today

"And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved" (Acts 2:47). Father, let today be the day of salvation for 10 Tunisians! Bring other believers to them that they may grow together in community.

hearing the Word of Christ

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). Lord, you have made the word of Christ the word of enlightenment. Let this word be sown throughout Tunisia, and by Your life-giving authority, let hearts believe it. Amen.

how lovely is your dwelling

Praise You, the Living GOD, who reveals Your ways to humankind, who opens the eyes of the blind, who invites us to dwell with You. “How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the Living God” (Psalm 84:1-2). O the limitless riches of eternity with You!

ready for revelation

“At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius...a devout man who feared God with all his household…” (Acts 10:1,2). Father, raise up Tunisian fathers who will lead their families in reverential worship of You, sensitive and teachable to what You want to reveal to them and their whole households. Prepare them for divine encounters that will transform their families forever.

media fruitfulness

Khaled found information about Christianity and Tunisian believers on the Internet. He wanted to learn more and sought out ways to meet a Tunisian Christian. One day he met a man named “Hamsa”. After hearing the Gospel from “Hamsa,” he chose to follow Jesus. He is now a part of a weekly fellowship and is growing in his love for the Lord. Continue to pray for the fruit of media outreach and that seekers get connected to believers.

come to my house

“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ” (Acts 5:42). LORD, open up many Tunisian homes to be places of evangelism and discipleship.

enough to give & go

“Only let us hold true to what we have attained” (Philippians 3:16). So many young believers in Tunisia feel ill-equipped for ministry or leadership without knowing more. Father, we know that You will be their Teacher, but today we pray that these young believers would hold true to what they have attained by stepping out to serve You and love others with the Gospel.

it pleased him

“For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people for Himself” (1 Samuel 12:22). What an awesome truth to consider! We praise You, LORD, that for Your own name’s sake and in Your pleasure that You would rescue sinners like me from among all nations in the world to be Your own. (Take a quiet, brief moment to really consider this truth and respond.)

unreached

Some estimate that there are over 6,900 "unreached" people groups in the world (see www.joshuaproject.net). Tunisian Arabs make up one of the largest of these groups (10 million people). Pray that 2012 would be a groundbreaking year where churches across the globe will partner together to reach tt people groups, with the ultimate aim of local believers reaching their own people with the Gospel.

bold witness

Emen & Narjis were both Tunisian women living in Europe. About 10 years ago Emen became a Christian. She shared with Narjis how Jesus changed her life. For years she continued to tell her the truth about Jesus. Narjis moved back to Tunisia but continued to stay in touch with Emen. Her friend’s consistent, bold witness eventually convinced Narjis of the truth of Jesus. A few months ago she gave her life to Him. Pray for new believers such as Narjis to be bold witnesses, as Emen was. Click here to read more stories like this!

the Lord is willing

“Inshallah” – though the exact pronunciation may vary, it is very rare for a conversation in Tunisia not to include this word (multiple times). It means, “If God wills.” While it has biblical roots (James 4:13-17), most Muslims have a fatalistic view of life, with an all-powerful, relationally distant God. Father, reveal Your personal heart and desire that all people come to a knowledge of Christ and be saved. We believe that You are indeed willing.

Monday 16 January 2012

unending speech

“Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge” (Psalm 19:2). Muslims believe that the created world bears witness to the existence of God, but they do not quickly read from creation His loving character and relational heart. Father, open our eyes and the eyes of Tunisians to more accurately see Your personal nature through human relationships and the emotional realities that we experience every day and night.

one year ago

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the historic new beginning when protestors led former-president Ben Ali to flee the country. This event was catalytic in the “Arab Spring,” which has impacted all of North Africa and the Middle East. As the future is still very uncertain, let us pray that the false hopes of January 14, 2011 would be replaced by the living hope that only Jesus can give to Tunisians.

Friday 13 January 2012

elders, heads, leaders

“Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the leaders of the fathers’ houses of the people of Israel, before King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion” (1 Kings 8:1). Lord God, open the hearts of Tunisia’s political and family leaders to be key figures in bringing Your Presence and Gospel influence to this needy land.

Psalm 65 Praise (Part 3)

“You visit the earth and water it; You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for so You have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth.... The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy” (Psalm 65:9-13).

Spirit’s lead

If you consider the Spirit’s activity through the Apostles in the book of Acts, you will recall very few instances of isolated discipleship. Paul’s journeys always ended in fellowships of believers, churches. God, we pray together today that all believers in Tunisia will embrace the significance of intentionally planting fellowships of believers that seek to reproduce themselves from the start.

Monday 9 January 2012

a theology of suffering

“Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 2:3). Lord, raise up an army of Tunisian believers who have a right view of suffering in faithfully proclaiming the greatest news in the world.

Saturday 7 January 2012

Psalm 65 Praise (Part 2)

“By awesome deeds You answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the One who by His strength established the mountains, being girded with might; who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe of Your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy” (Psalm 65:5-8).

media ministry

Ask God to guide a Christian media ministry as it creates a 26-episode TV program that will model fundamentals of church multiplication. May this innovative effort be used of God to advance church multiplication movements through the region!

Wednesday 4 January 2012

making connections

Let’s pray together for Tunisians such as “Maher,” who have had confused ideas about Islam and desire to meet with a Tunisian Christian to ask questions. God, I pray that there would be Christians willing and available to meet with them, and that many will accept Christ and be joined to a fellowship community, just as "Majer" did.

www.pray4tunisia.com

Pray4Tunisia was launched one year ago this month in the midst of much political turmoil in the nation. Biblically, historically, and experientially PRAYER IMPACTS THE WORLD—individuals and nations. Our aim is to mobilize and empower extraordinary prayer for the sake of God’s fame in the world. We are certain that He wants to stir a movement of healthy, reproducing churches. Thank You today, Father, that we can partner together in such a significant story in the universe!

let testimonies ring out

O Father, in the midst of political and economic uncertainty, as well as spiritual complacency and need, let the hearts and lips of Tunisian Christians cry out to their countrymen, “Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what He has done for my soul” (Psalm 66:16).
